"VistA-Office EHR (VOE) is not free . . . .[T]he implementation process for VOE, acquiring hardware, training, ongoing support, etc., all cost money . . . . The VA plans to re-engineer VistA to a new platform, so individuals must realize that they are implementing an application whose 'parent' appplication is planned to be sunset . . . . Plus, VOE does not have wide commercial support, and some components incorporate noncommercial.  For example, VistA Imaging stores radiological images in Targa and big formats, not DICOM.  Also, VOE does not have any physician billing capabilities, so physicians will have to buy and integrate another vendor's financial system."  Ken Bodenheimer, Healthcare Practice Director, Edmond Computer.
