GETTING STARTED

Review system requirements and make hardware, equipment, and software changes required to install or run the Custom Speech USA, Inc. program. The system requirements can be seen at www.customspeechusa.com/uc.html. Anyone installing the software should have administrative rights. Otherwise the software may not properly install.

Prior to this or any installation it is advisable to run regular system maintenance, including ScanDisk, Disk Defragmenter, and some commercially available registry clean-up utility.

Install any needed software prerequisites that may be distributed with the Custom Speech USA, Inc. application.

If the software is downloaded from the internet, double click on the executable icon to begin installation. If the installation is from CD insert the CD into the drive, then go to My Computer and open the corresponding CD drive. To begin installation double-click on the setup.exe. None of the Custom Speech USA, Inc. CDs are equipped with AutoStart.

Follow the instructions in the InstallShield Wizard.

Once the Custom Speech USA, Inc. application software is installed, install the License Pack files. The License Pack is sent to registered users by email.

Double click on the license key file to run the file executable. The license key file for the selected software will be installed. In the License Pack software, by default all licensed applications will be checked. Accept the default and continue.

The installing user may be asked whether anyone who uses the computer or only the installation user should be able to run the software. The installing user must have administrative rights in order to check "anyone who uses this computer."  If the installing user does not have administrative rights, the software will be installed into the user's private space.

GENERAL INSTALL OPTIONS

Available install options will vary depending upon the program.  Typical installs the main application, Help files, and other components usually required to run the software.  This is the option recommended for most users.  Compact installs minimal set of components to run the software and takes up the least amount of hard drive space.  Custom installs select individual components, recommended for advanced users.  Use Custom if you are planning to install application as a server.  Use default installation folder or Browse function to select another installation site.  Items with a grey checkbox are required and cannot be removed.  Server installs server components only. Remote Standalone Workstation installs client applications and Job Transfer server. This is available with Command! only.

MODIFY, REPAIR, OR REMOVE

Using the InstallShield Wizard, you may modify, repair, or remove your installation. Use Modify if minimal changes to the previously installed program will be made. Use Repair to reinstall components installed by a previous setup. Use Remove to remove all installed components, or remove and install a new version or program components substantially different from what you had installed initially. If changes are substantial or there are possibly corrupted files, use the Remove function to remove installed components and start with a clean install. (Note: These features are not available using a single file installation kit downloaded from the internet. When using this method of installation, any changes require that you must uninstall and reinstall the software.)
