A layout is a standard Windows file. It refers to a specific collection of previously created macros assigned to a group of physical or virtual keys. Confirm that programming and functions have been properly assigned using the Validate Keypad function.
The Configure Layout window has two functions: create, open, and save layouts, and access the macro recorder Script Tool. For the first function, use the File menu item. For the second, access the Configure Layout window. Then select Configure and Configure Software.
To access the Configure Layout window, click on Configure in the main window.

Then select Configure Layout. The following window will appear.

(Your screen may look different depending upon the macros prepared for your system. In this case Sony Memory Stick, and Sound Recorder (MS) are the only application having a macro available for use with a layout.)
The Configure Layout window has two menu items:
|
Used to create, open, and save layouts. | |
|
Allows access the macro recorder Script Tool. |

The File menu permits you to do the following:
|
Create a new layout. | |
|
Open a layout. | |
|
Save a layout. | |
|
Clone a layout and save it under a different file name. |
In addition, it is possible to modify a layout using assign and unassign functions.
To create a new layout in the Configure Layout window:
a. Click File, New Layout to bring up the Create New Layout window.
b. Enter the number of keypad rows and columns in your keypad. (The default in a standard 20-key keypad is 4 columns and 5 rows, as is shown in the window below.)

c. Click OK. The Save New Layout window will appear. Enter a new layout name.

d. Click Save. The Configure Layout window appears. Note that all keys are empty and available for assignment.

e. Assign a function to a key.
Click on the "+" before the application name in the list to the left to show the configured functions for each program. Click once on a function to select that item.
Click and drag the highlighted item onto a key to the right. While dragging, a black circle appears but changes to an arrow over the key. After the function is stored, the configured key will display a small icon. Note: A new key function will overwrite a previously assigned function. The new icon is shown in the upper left hand corner of the keypad diagram.
In the window below, the Testing Layout is being configured. Microsoft Sound Recorder functions that have been configured for macro activation are listed on the left-hand side. The Play Sound function has been assigned to the key in the upper left-hand corner of the keypad (row 1, column 1), as indicated in the status bar at the bottom of the window.

To view a function assigned to a key, bring the cursor above the key. A tool tip will display the application and function activated by the key as shown above.
You can also click on the key to display the information in the status bar at the bottom.
To test the assignment, double-click on the assigned key. This will launch the software and execute the assigned function.
To unassign, click on a key in the Configure Layout window and the Unassign button to remove the function for that key.
In the Configure Layout window, click File, Open Layout. Select the desired layout and click Open.

After the layout is loaded, it is possible to assign, view, test, or unassign key functions, or validate the numeric key code sent by the keypad.
To save any changes, click the OK button or File, Save Layout. Click Cancel to exit without saving changes.
This feature is designed to clone layouts. The active layout and any modifications made can be saved with a new name. To use this feature, load a layout using File, Open Layout.

Make any desired modifications using the assign, view, test, or unassign key functions, or validate the numeric key code sent by the keypad. Click File, Save as New Layout and select the folder in which to store the file. Enter the new name and click Save in the Save As window.
The Configure menu contains Configure Software and Configure Software (Database). These options will give the ability to create and configure macros.

Click on Configure in the Configure Layout window and then Configure Software. This will bring up Script Tool.

Configure Software (Database) will bring up the Configure Software window which contains the macros that have been made and saved in the Command! database.
