Install, Repair, Modify, Remove

Applies to older version SpeechServers (Dragon v5/6 or IBM v8+) only.  Older version included Standalone desktop client edition that is no longer available.

Install kits for more recent versions of SpeechServers will generally have similar processes for installing, modifying, repairing, and removing the application.

This section will lead you through the process of installing, modifying, repairing, and removing SpeechServers. If you downloaded a version of SpeechServers, double-click on the install file, then skip to step 4.  Screen shots may include images from SpeechServers (Dragon v5/6 or IBM v8+) install package.  

For SpeechServers (Dragon) and SpeechServers (SAPI 5.x), the install packages are separate from the SpeechServers (Dragon v5/6 or IBM v8+) install package.

The install procedures for SpeechServers (Dragon) and SpeechServers (SAPI 5.x) are similar to the SpeechServers (Dragon v5/6 or IBM v8+) but not identical.

Choose a Custom Install for both SpeechServers (Dragon) and SpeechServers (SAPI 5.x), selecting the desired components.

 

Install

1. Load into the CD-ROM drive and install. This screen should appear:

If the install demo fails to run, double-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop. Locate the CD-ROM drive in the window.  Double-click on the drive letter to display the CD disk contents.  Double-click on the file setup.exe.

 

2. Click Install.

 

3. Click Install SpeechServers, this will load the SpeechServers install program.

If needed, click on any of the prerequisites to install them.

 

4. Click Next.

 

5. Read Me First! screen, read the information and then click Next.

 

6. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement if you agree to the terms, and then click Next.

 

7. Select a setup type by clicking the appropriate drop down button and clicking one of the choices: This feature will be installed on local hard drive., This feature, and all subfeatures, will be installed on local hard drive., This feature will be installed to run from network., This feature, and all subfeatures, will be installed to run from the network., or This feature will not be available. If desirable, change the destination directory by clicking the Change... button to display the Change Current Destination Folder dialog box, navigating to a different location, and clicking the OK button. After all selections are made, click the Next button.

The setup types include the following:

10. Click Install, SpeechServers will then begin to install.

 

 

11. When installation is completed the following screen will appear. Click Finish. You may be asked to restart the computer after installation is completed.

 

Modify - Use Modify if there are minimal changes to the previously installed program that you would like to make.

If you downloaded your version of SpeechServers, modify and repair will not work.

1. Double-click on My Computer

2. Double-click on Control Panel

3. Double-click on Add/Remove Programs.

4. Find SpeechServers in the list, then click the Change button.

5. Select Modify from the list, then click Next.

 

6. Select the components you wish to keep or remove, then click Next.

 

Repair - Use Repair to reinstall the same components installed by a previous setup.

If you downloaded your version of SpeechServers, modify and repair will not work.

1. Double-click on My Computer

2. Double-click on Control Panel

3. Double-click on Add/Remove Programs.

4. Find SpeechServers in the list, then click the Add/Remove button.

5. Select Repair from the list, then click Next.

 

Remove - Use Remove to remove all installed components, or remove and install a new version or program components substantially different from the initial installation.   

As a general rule, if the changes are substantial or there may be corrupted files, use the Remove function to remove installed components and start with a clean install.

1. Double-click on My Computer

2. Double-click on Control Panel

3. Double-click on Add/Remove Programs.

4. Find SpeechServers in the list, then click the Add/Remove button.

5. Select Remove from the list, then click Next.

 

6. Click Remove to uninstall.
